Now you have a USI, you probably want to know a bit about it…
What's in it for me? A USI Transcript!
The biggest benefit of the USI for students is the USI Transcript. Its an online record of all your nationally recognised training since 1 January 2015 and you can access it by logging into your USI account.
The USI Transcript doesn't replace the qualifications issued to you by your training provider, but it will come in handy when you enrol in new training. It will also be a useful backup in case your original documentation is lost or you cannot get a copy from your training provider.
If you've completed nationally recognised training in the past, your training provider can use your USI Transcript to assess your eligibility for credit transfer.
It's portable… you can acess your USI Transcript on any device anywhere, anytime!
Why do I have a USI?
The USI links together nationally recognised training so you can see your training in your USI transcript.
All students doing nationally recognised training need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). This includes students doing Vocational Education Training (VET) when they are still at school (VET for secondary students).
You must provide your USI to your training provider before you can be issued with a nationally recognised training qualification or Statement of Attainment, except where special exemptions exist.
Why should I activate my USI?
It's important to activate your USI account by setting your password and check questions.
Activation will enable you to view your USI Transcript and make it easier to find your USI again in the future. By activating your account, you can also give your training provider access to your training records, which will help them assess your previous training for potential credit transfer.
How do I manage my USI account?
You can update your details, provide your training organisation with limited access to your USI account and view any training outcomes (when available) by logging in to your USI account at any time.
If you lose your USI or forget your password, you can visit our website at www.usi.gov.au to recover it quickly and easily.
How do you protect my privacy?
We take your privacy seriously.
The personal information you provide to us is protected by the Privacy Act 1988 and the collection, use and disclosure of your USI is protected by the Student Identifiers Act 2014.
Activating your USI and setting a strong password, together with your check questions is another way you can secure your personal details in your USI account.
