What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
A USI is your individual education number for life. It also gives you an online record of your VET training undertaken in Australia.
If you're at university, TAFE or doing other nationally recognized training, you need a USI. Without one, you can't get Commonwealth financial assistance or your qualification or statement of attainment.

Compliance
Our Compliance and Enforcement Strategy is now available. The Strategy explains how we protect the integrity of the USI and how we respond and investigate non-compliance.
Providing your USI
Once higher education students have created a USI, they need to provide it to their university at enrolment.
Higher education students are asked not to use the USI email option in the Student Portal, as each university has a different process to supply a USI.
