USI and myGov
myGov is a simple and secure way to access government services online in one place.
Visit myGov to sign in or create an account and link your USI.
Linking your USI to myGov means you don’t have to log in to your USI account when you access it from myGov.
You must have an active USI account to link to myGov.
If you don’t have a myGov account, you can still get a USI or find your USI if you have forgotten it.
What can you do when you link?
When you link your USI account to your myGov account, you can:
- view your USI
- download your Vocational Education and Training (VET) transcript
- update your details.
Follow these steps to link your USI to your myGov account
Via myGov website
- Sign in to myGov, you can sign in using one of the following:
- Select View and link services
- Select Link on the Unique Student Identifier tile.
- You can use either your USI or your personal details to link your USI to myGov. If you know your USI, select I know my USI. To use your personal details, select I don’t know my USI.
- Follow the prompts to enter the details of your USI.
- Once your USI has been identified, a 6-digit code will be sent to the mobile phone or email address on your USI account.
- Enter the code and select Next to finish linking your USI to myGov.
Via myGov app
- Sign in to myGov, you can sign in using one of the following:
- Select Services
- Select + icon at the top of the screen
- Select Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- You can use either your USI or your personal details to link your USI to myGov. If you know your USI, select I know my USI. To use your personal details, select I don’t know my USI.
- Follow the prompts to enter the details of your USI.
- Once your USI has been identified, a 6-digit code will be sent to the mobile phone and/or email address on your USI account.
- Enter the code and select Next to finish linking your USI to myGov.

Please be aware of fake websites or apps that look like myGov. Access myGov by typing in my.gov.au into your internet browser or use the official Australian Government myGov app.
