Login security update

We have enhanced security by introducing passphrases and multi-factor authentication (MFA) to the USI Student Portal.

Published date

When?
Now.

Why?
It allows confirmation of identity.

How?
MFA means that students will receive a one-time code to their personal mobile number or email address when they create or activate their USI and each time they log in to their USI account.

Don’t have a personal mobile number or email address? Students will need to answer 2 security questions.

As an extra layer of security, passwords now need to be a minimum of 15 characters. We recommend passphrases for added security because they are easier to memorise and harder to guess.
