What is a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number for students doing skills training in Australia.
A USI links to an online account that will contain all of your training records and results that are completed from 1 January 2015.
When applying for a job or doing further study, you may need to give your training records and results to the new employer or training school.
You can access your results and records from your USI account online from a computer, tablet or mobile phone.
Who needs a USI?
Any student doing skills training after 1 January 2015. This includes study at TAFE or with a private skills training school, doing an apprenticeship, certificate or diploma.
Why do you have to get a USI?
The law requires students doing skills training to have a USI before they finish their training.
How do I get a USI?
You can apply for a USI online if you have a form of identification ready and read English. If you cannot read English you may want to have a friend or family member to help you. Your training school can also help you to apply for a USI.
