Upcoming USI Registry System Enhancements
This Bulletin is to advise RTOs of system enhancements that are scheduled to occur on Sunday, 18 March 2018. Resources and links on the new enhancements will be made available on the USI website and also in the next issue of the Bulletin.
Changes to the ‘Create USI’ screen – USI Organisation Portal
If you currently use the Organisation Portal to create USIs on behalf of your students, there will be a change to the sequence in which you enter the student’s personal details. This will require you to input the evidence of identity document details upfront, prior to entering the student’s personal details and will help ensure more successful verifications.
You will not need to enter more information than you already do. It will still be the same data entry fields, just in a different order. Here is a quick sneak peek at what the new screen will look like.
If you currently connect via web services (through your own student management system), no changes apply to you.
Changes to the ‘Create USI’ screen – USI Student Portal
Whilst RTOs must only use the USI Organisation Portal to create USIs on behalf of their students, you may also be interested in changes being applied to the USI Student Portal screens for the ‘Create USI’ process, particularly if you provide support to students creating their own USIs.
Similar to the changes to the USI Organisation Portal, the ‘Create USI’ process will also require a student’s evidence of identity document details to be provided upfront, prior to entering the student’s personal details. Again, this will help ensure more successful verifications.
Changes to the USI Student Portal will also require individuals or parties creating a USI on behalf of students to identify themselves and disclose their relationship to the student. Here is a quick sneak peek at what the new screen will look like.
If your RTO regularly assists students to create their own USIs by sitting next to them to support them through the creation process, the student will need to select NO, in response to the ‘Are you applying for a USI on behalf of another person?’ question.
Changes to ‘Forgotten USI’ and ‘Forgotten Password’ (Mobile option) - USI Student Portal
When a student enters their mobile number option to retrieve their forgotten USI or forgotten password, they will now need to enter in their date of birth as well. No changes apply when students select to use their email address or other personal contact information.
What do I need to do?
Nothing now beyond sharing this Bulletin with other staff in your RTO. This Bulletin is merely to provide you some advance notice that these enhancements are taking effect from next week.
