Machine-to-Machine (M2M) credentials are used for system to system web services and are installed on the server hosting a training organisation’s system. M2M credential identifies a business rather than a person. This means users of a USI web service enabled Student Management System (SMS) do not need their own individual credential.
M2M credentials are used in two environments, Third Party Testing (3PT) and production.
The Office of the Student Identifiers Registrar provides credentials for the Third Party Testing.
Production credentials are created through the ATO RAM system by the authorised person in the education or training provider.
